Alla Aronov

Mrs. Alla Aronov came from Moscow, Russia. She went to the Moscow State Teacher Training University and University of Washington – Seattle. She taught at one of the oldest English language schools in Moscow and has been teaching at Solomon Christian School since September 1998. Her main subjects are English, ESL, and French. Also, she leads the Russian and knitting clubs.

 


 

Amy Peterson

Amy Peterson

Mrs. Amy Peterson came from Tulsa, OK. She got her B.A. in English from Texas A&M University and her M.A. in Intercultural Studies from Wheaton College. She spent two years teaching ESL in Southeast Asia, one semester teaching ESL in California, and a year teaching in Arkansas (both college and high school classes). She also taught Literature and Bible. At SCS, Mrs. Peterson teaches ESL, SAT and TOEFL prep and leads the girls’ club.

 


 

Brian Pendergast

Brian Pendergast

Mr. Brian Pendergast grew up in the midwestern U.S. and came out to Seattle to earn a B.A. in Educational Ministeries from Seattle Pacific University. He has worked with children of all ages for the last ten years, including four years as a Youth Pastor in suburban Seattle. In addition to teaching SCS Bible classes and leading Chapel, he is currently finishing an M.A. in Counseling Psychology at Mars Hill Graduate School in downtown Seattle. He enjoys music and sports and spending quality time with his wife and two kids. 

 


 

 

Heather Pann

Ms. Heather Pann is from Curtis, MI. She went to Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI, and received a B.A. in Biology/ Chemistry, and a B.A. in Secondary Education. She has twelve years of teaching experience. She is currently our weekday dorm supervisor and homework tutor. Ms. Pann enjoys exploring other countries, playing basketball, trout fishing and spending time with her family back in Michigan. Her life verse is from Philippians 1:22 and 27: “As long as I’m alive in this body, there is good work for me to do. Live in such as way that you are a credit to the Message of Christ!”

 


 

Kay McCoy

Kay McCoy

Ms. Kay McCoy received her B.A. from Western Washington University in General Studies. For nearly five years, she was a one-on-one ESL pronunciation tutor for international students at Shoreline Community College. She enjoys working with students and is enthusiastic about being a part-time ESL teacher at SCS. 

 


 

Laura Sawicki

Laura Sawicki

Ms. Laura Sawicki was born and raised in Cheshire, CT. She moved to South Carolina and got her B.S. in Science Teaching with an emphasis on life sciences, as well as her M.Ed. in Secondary Education for natural sciences at Clemson University. She taught Biology and Marine Science in SC for four years. She moved to Washington in June, 2008 and has enjoyed the experience of getting to know the area. Ms. Sawicki teaches science and math at SCS. 

 


 

Mark Lackey

Mark Lackey

Mr. Mark Lackey was born in Centralia, IL. He graduated from Southern Illinois University and received his editing certification at the University of Washington. In 2001, he began to work at our school as the head tutor of the Independent Study Program (ISP), and in 2003, he started teaching History, Social Studies, Journalism, Creative Writing, and Civics. He also tutors reading/writing for SAT and for our credit make-up program during the summer and leads the drama and journalism clubs. Mr. Lackey thinks that SCS is “a thriving, diverse center for learning. The inspired staff is dedicated to bring out the full potential of each and every student.”

 


 

Megan McCarty

Megan McCarty

Mrs. Megan McCarty is from Fort Smith, AR. She studied Vocal Music at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO and received her B.M. in Music Education. At SCS, she is the office manager and Chapel music leader. 

 


 

Michelle Scott

Michelle Scott

Mrs. Michelle Scott was born in Everett, WA. She studied Design at the Art Institute of Seattle, got her B.A. in Ministry Leadership from Northwest University, and her TESL Certificate from Western Washington University. She taught ESL for two years in Tokyo, Japan and three years of ESL/Culture in bilingual schools in the Seattle area. At SCS, she works in Admissions, overseas school development, and is the weekend dorm supervisor.

 


 

Patrick Colgan

Patrick Colgan

Mr. Patrick Colgan came from Raleigh, NC. His undergraduate degree in Public Relations is from East Carolina University. After an exchange program at the University of Oregon, he fell in love with the Northwest. He then obtained his Masters in Teaching from Seattle Pacific University. He teaches English, Physical Education, and keyboarding. Mr. Colgan also oversees all club activities and leads basketball, bowling, and skiing/snowboarding. He devotes his free time to developing sister schools overseas.

 


 

Steven White

Steven White

Mr. Steven White was born in California but graduated from the University of Arizona. He taught Astronomy at the University of Arizona and Kitt Peak National Observatory, Physics at Palo Verde High School, and Planetarium and Stage Science at the Seattle Pacific Science Center. He also tutored at Sylvan Learning Center. He has been teaching math at SCS since 2005. He is also a novelist in his free time. Mr. White is interested in using information technology to optimize the learning and teaching experience.

Tyler McPherson

Tyler McPherson

Mr. Tyler McPherson is the vice-principal at SCS and is from Richland, WA. He got his B.A. in Social Science with a Minor in Biblical Studies and Theology at Simpson University; he received an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. For several years he has been in charge of the credit make-up program at SCS. In addition, Mr. McPherson is the head of Key club, is an academic advisor for seniors (choosing/applying to colleges and universities), and represents SCS at education fairs all over the world.

 

 
 

  
 


 

Richard Lee

Richard Lee

Mr. Richard Lee is the principal at SCS. He was born in South Korea but raised in the Seattle area. He received his M.A. in Philosophy at the University of Washington and his M.Div. at Springfield Theological Seminary. He was a youth pastor for 14 years and has also taught math (6 years) and Bible (4 years). Here at SCS, Mr. Lee is currently busy establishing branch language schools overseas, but he still has time to work individually with each student on scheduling and college advising. He monitors and follows-up with students regularly, showing his deep concern for each of them. He also loves working with different nationalities and has a passion for music. Mr. Lee is married to Sang Lee and they have two children, Abraham and Grace.
