locationThe 3-acre SCS campus is located in Edmonds, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest. The multi-cultural urban center of Seattle is located 15 minutes south of us. Vancouver, Canada (a popular destination) is three hours to the north. Immediately to the west, we have the picturesque Puget Sound, and the Cascade mountains lay one hour to the east of us. The Edmonds area is a friendly, safe environment with beautiful recreational areas, convenient shopping and reliable public transportation. Our climate is mild year-round. CAMPUS Our campus includes classrooms and offices, a cafeteria, a recently upgraded computer lab, campus-wide wireless Internet access, the dormitory, a Chapel, an outdoor basketball court, a volleyball court and a soccer field. The campus is situated in a quiet residential area, yet within walking distance of several shopping centers. The campus is completely gated and security cameras help us keep the area safe for everyone. Future plans include adding a new building of classrooms to the west side of the campus, enlarging the playing fields and eventually adding a gymnasium.
DormitoryOur dormitory can accommodate 42 students and is divided into a girls’ wing and a boys’ wing. A dorm supervisor is always on site. Students have off-campus privileges (they must check out and in) during specific hours and transportation for shopping and the library is available on the weekends. There is scheduled study time from Sunday to Thursday. Dormitory rules are strictly enforced. Students can choose single, double or triple rooms. SCS will try to match roommate preferences whenever possible. Each student will have his own bed, dresser, chair, and desk. Students share bathrooms (though the shower stalls are private). There is a coin-operated laundry room on-site. Students should bring their own sheets, blanket, pillows, towels, clothes hangers and alarm clock. There is a janitor service for the public areas, but students are required to clean their own rooms and wash their own linens. Wireless internet is available throughout the entire campus, including the dorm rooms.
Dorm CostDoubles (one roommate) or Triples (two roommates): $1,200.00 per month. Singles: $1,600.00 per month (limited availability). The dorm cost includes three meals per day (except for breakfast on weekends), a guardian fee and homework help during dormitory study time. Note: Applicants must pay for the first 10 months of dormitory fees before moving in and will be invoiced for any damaged caused to the room prior to leaving. American HomestayAnother accommodation option for international students is to stay with a local American family. A homestay includes room, board, transportation to and from school and the chance to use daily English and experience everyday American life. Homestay CostHomestays also cost $1,200.00 per month. Note: Applicants must pay for the first 10 months of homestay fees before moving in and will be invoiced for any damaged caused to the host home prior to leaving. |
